Action Figure Overview: Masters of the Universe Classics - Blue Mer-Man (Mattel, 2010)

Masters of the Universe Classics Blue Mer-Man In the early years of the Masters of the Universe Classics line by Mattel, many of figures weren't available in stores and could only be purchased online through Mattycollector.com.  This made it much less likely that the figures would sell to casual fans or kids simply because they weren't aware of the series' existence.  However, around 2010, a series of 2-packs featuring one DC Universe character paired with a similar Masters of the Universe character started to hit the shelves in Toys R Us stores.  The first two were He-Man / Superman and Skeletor / Lex Luthor for around $30 per 2-pack. The original Masters of the Universe Classics Mer-Man and the later "Blue" or "Mini-Comic" 2-pack Mer-Man In late 2010 / early 2011, the second wave became available.  This wave included Stratos / Hawkman and Mer-Man / Aquaman.  I think some people were able to get these new 2-packs online from Toys R Us direct

Imaginext Series 12 Clawtron: A Tribute to 1980s Adventure People

Imaginext "Clawtron" figure with the original Fisher-Price Adventure People Clawtron and Firestar 1 Pilot behind him. I've been casually collecting the Fisher-Price Imaginext line since the first series of blind bag figures came out a few years ago.   As with most toys these days, distribution has been unpredictable and it's difficult to find some of these in the stores.   However, I've managed to find the majority of the figures that I like.   For the most part, I've been buying the monster related figures and the majority of the space or robot guys.   So far, I've picked up at least one figure from almost every series. Imaginext "Clawtron" flanked by the original Adventure People Clawtron and Firestar 1 figures. When series 11 came out, I picked up every figure in the series.  There were several figures that were made as tributes to old toys from the 1980s.  There's a tribute to the M.U.S.C.L.E. figures (which I've written a

Top 10 MEGO World's Greatest Super Heroes! Starting in 1972 and lasting a decade, The MEGO Toy Company released The World's Greatest Super-Heroes line of 8" action figures.  This phenomenal series of toys gave thousands of kids in the 70s their first opportunity to own figures of their favorite Marvel and DC characters!  In total, there were 37 figures in the World's Greatest Super Heroes line if you count the Secret Identities figures (Clark Kent, Bruce Wayne, Dick Grayson, and Peter Parker).  They all had a certain campiness about them, but to me, that's part of what gave them their charm.  Here is my list of the TOP 10 Vintage MEGO World's Greatest Super Heroes action figures: #10 - Mego Riddler #10: The Riddler!  Although he's at the bottom of my Top 10 list, I had to include The Riddler.  He's always been one of my favorite villains and I really love the head sculpt on this guy.  It might not be exactly accurate to the way he looked in

Universal Monsters Bend-Ems: Frankenstein, Dracula, The Wolf Man, & The Creature From The Black Lagoon! I had heard that Walgreens was selling Universal Monster Bendy figures early in the Halloween season, but despite several trips to numerous Walgreens locations, I hadn't seen a single one.  Yesterday, I stopped by a Walgreens and I wasn't even thinking about Halloween stuff.  As I was heading to the cash register, I ended up in the Halloween Clearance section.  There were 50% Off and 70% Off signs all over the place.  Boxes of Christmas products were being loaded on to the shelves at the other end of the Holiday section.  Behind a 50% Off sign, I noticed these familiar characters! Universal Monsters Bend-Ems: The Creature From The Black Lagoon and Frankenstein! There were two of each character except The Creature From The Black Lagoon (just one Creature).  I grabbed one of each and headed up to pay for my new monsters!  As always, I told the clerk that I wan
