Action Figure Overview: Star Wars Blue Snaggletooth (Kenner, 1978)

Image
These photos are of my childhood Blue Snaggletooth figure.  As you can see from the paint wear, I played with him quite a lot.  I always preferred him to the more common shorter, bootless, red Snaggletooth.  Although he didn't take the lead in the majority of my playtime adventures like Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Chewbacca, Boba Fett, and my Storm Troopers, this relatively uncommon figure was certainly at the very least a regular cast member in the stories that I invented and played out as a kid. By 1978, Kenner's Star Wars figures were the hottest toys on the market.  I still remember the first time I ever saw them: they were in the hands of another kid in my neighborhood and I absolutely had to have a set for myself!  I can still remember the trip to the toy store where my first Star Wars figures were purchased, which four figures I chose, and why I chose them.  I remember a later trip to a different store where I received my first Land Speeder.  I even vaguely remember t

Imaginext Series 11 Snakeman: A Tribute to 1980s Hasbro Battle Beasts

A few years ago, I started collecting the Imaginext blind bag figures with Series 1.  Although they're distribution has been kind of random, I've managed to pick up most of the ones I've wanted.  They've put out a lot of cool figures, but I'm not a completest when it comes to this line.  I just get figures that I like.  For the most part, I'm not interested in the sports guys or some of the more mundane characters.  I pick up anything monster related and most of the space or robot guys.  With that said, I've picked up at least one figure from almost every series. When series 11 came out, I picked up every figure.  There were several figures that were made as tributes to old toys from the 1980s.  There's a tribute to the M.U.S.C.L.E. figures (which I've written about HERE ) and a tribute to the X-Ray Man from the Fisher-Price Adventure People line. But this post is about the Snake Man figure inspired by the Triple Threat Snake from Hasbro's B

Top 10 BEST Vintage Star Wars Figures 1978 to 1985

In 1978, first wave of 12 Star Wars figures were distributed by Kenner and they instantly became the hottest toys in the stores.  From 1978 through 1985, Kenner released around 100 different figures and sold millions of them, making a fortune for Kenner and George Lucas.  Although they weren't the first 3 3/4 inch action figures on the market, they certainly helped to make that the standard scale well into the next decade. Kids, including me, loved these toys!  Here is my list of THE TOP 10 Vintage Star Wars figures: #10: Lando Calrissian in his Skiff Guard Disguise from Return of the Jedi.  He came with a weird, intriguing weapon and an awesome helmet.  Then when you took the helmet off, the guy underneath still looked cool.  This figure has kind of a Samari vibe to me.  It didn't make the list because of anything Lando Calrissian did in the movie Return of the Jedi.  It made the list solely based on how the cool figure looked. #09: R2-D2 With Sensorscope from The

Fortnite: "Green Glow" Skull Trooper Walgreens Exclusive Review

Before I knew anything about Fortnite (for those of you who don't know, it's a video game), I started noticing the 7" Fortnite action figures in the toy isles.  More specifically, I started noticing the Skull Troopers.  The other figures didn't really catch my eye, but as a fan of the classic monsters and the Halloween season in general, a skeleton action figure will usually stand out to me; especially a skeleton who looks more like Johnny at the Halloween Dance from the movie The Karate Kid.  I didn't think much about the figures at the time until I started noticing that the skeleton guy wasn't with the other Fortnite figures anymore.  Even then, it wasn't really a big deal to me.  After a while, I saw a 4" version of the figure and I made a mental note that he was called a "Skull Trooper." It started to bother me that I hadn't paid more attention when the 7" version was on the shelves, so I looked them up online. My search reve
